I have an old Yamaha acoustic that used to be my father's... the strings are almost as old as the guitar itself, the saddle is actually now a piece from a computer drive cover because the original got lost when the bridge broke off many year ago... but to me it still sounds nice.

Anyway, occasionally I bring it out, and the kids love having a strum, so when I saw Aldi having half sized acoustics for... um, $29 I think they were, we grabbed on, the bonus being it's more their size.

So, the guitar came in a nice blue colour which the kids like, so it looks the part.

It came with a few picks, a card with the basic chords on it and a strap.

Now, I haven't yet given this a good workout. I tuned it up and strummed some chords on it, and it sounded... well... ok. I was actually getting a bit of a buzz off one of the strings on the nut of the guitar I think (Yeah, like I actually knew that's what that bit of the guitar was called... I looked it up on wikipedia!).

Having not played it much I can't tell you if it's holding it's tuning, it certainly didn't initially, but that would be the strings stretching wouldn't it? (Can you tell I'm not a muso?)

Anyway, certainly not something to get for someone who's serious about music, but the kids do like to strum it, and they like having their own guitar.

Oh, and it's withstood them standing on it many times, so it's pretty sturdy.

I guess that's the kind of price you'd want to pay for something that gets used as a standing block.. All the better that it can double up as a guitar :)
